Letter to the Class of 2020

Jessica Alexander, Senior Class President

Dear Seniors,
I stared at a blank screen for five minutes attempting to begin this letter and I still haven’t come up with the proper introduction. Some of you may feel as though, with the terrible heartbreak and sorrow thousands of families are being put through, it is unfair to complain about trivial things like missed seasons and canceled performances. It is true that we can not ignore the serious ramifications that come with this national crisis, but that does not mean the disappointment we all feel is not valid.
None of us, from students and parents to teachers and administration, knew how long these conditions would last on the first day school was canceled. I want to encourage you to make the best of our senior year in whatever conditions we find ourselves in. Right now, that may only mean getting on a group FaceTime call or playing 2k with your friends, but, on behalf of our senior class officers and advisers, as well as the faculty and administration, I want to assure you that we will do everything that we can to close out our senior year properly.
As of now, we are hoping to have Prom and Graduation as soon as it is safe to do so.  We want the senior class to have the celebrations we all deserve before beginning the next phase of our lives. We will keep you in the loop as updates are given and decisions are made. Please feel free to reach out to us if you need anything, academic or personal, through Instagram @cliftonhs20 or by emailing teachers and administration at CHS.
Stay safe and stay home. We will get through this together.
Jessica Alexander
Senior Class President
